Tips for reaching out to close others

  1. Be concise and specific. Aim for clear communication.
  2. Don't apologise. Asking for help or reaching out is nothing to be ashamed of. Don't minimise what you're saying by saying "I'm sorry"... or "I hate to bring this up"...
  3. Make it personal, not transactional. Try to speak face-to-face.
  4. Follow up with results. Let the people you asked for help from know how it's going.
  • Talk about it in a way that feels best for you.
  • Don't worry about silences.
  • Say what you need to say.
  • Be truthful.
  • Accept and ask for support, if needed.
  • Don't be afraid to say how you feel.
